New Camera, Fun taking Close-ups December 30, 2011

Nice Bark, I have a "thing" for Bark!

More Bark, the Twisty Kind, On a Bonsai Tree

Practicing my closeup

Amazing how far away I can be and get this detail on a closeup

Small Bird Nest, so cute, no birds, but sweet!
So, I started using my new Kodak camera with its 30x wide angle lens.  Wow, I can really zoom in.  We went to the National Arboretum today in D.C.  Not a lot to take pictures of trees or plants in bloom, but I did find a few items to play with on my new camera.  It was quite fun.

Excitement in the world of Photography for me!

Just got two new additions to my photography passion.  A Easy Share Max Kodak  Camera and a Imagebox 9MP StandAlone Scanner.  So far they seem to be working great.  I like the sharpness of the pictures that come out on the Kodak.  Isn't it great to live in the technological world that allows one to be able to take old film negatives and put them on the computer is so fabulous.  Above is a special photo: my Dad, Jill, Rachel and Leah who was just a month or less old.  I am so happy to get this picture from negative to computer.  Precious Memories...Dad is gone, but he will live forever in my heart.  The joy on all of their faces is priceless. (except Leah, she is sleeping, so tired being a newborn baby, but she is having a good dream)!

Musings on the Trees -Friday, December 16, 2011

I love Trees.  Plain and Simple.  They have always fascinated me.  It is amazing what a tree can do.  Bend with the wind and not break.  Hold heavy snow on its limbs and still stand strong.  Survive a hurricane and still look clean and pretty.  Take the intensity of the sun, on a hot, humid day and not even show a sign of sweat.  Wow, if we could just be like the trees.

My passion for photography is mostly centered around trees-how they look in all the different seasons.  Glorious in Spring and Fall with magnificent colors that only G-d could create.  Winter shows the resilency of trees in withstanding wind, snow and cold.  Summer is just green, green, green.  One day the trees are bare, then BAMM, the leaves are there.  It happens overnight.  I am amazed at the miracle of the trees.

Here are some of my favorite trees:
lipstick ladies, can you just imagine bottling that color, impossible!
Paper bark Tree, Peel me, Peel me....
glorious maple tree

amazing color!

I could go on and on but you don't want me too.  Just take a look next time you are outside at a tree, and think about how it protects, provides and loves you.  Best of all, it doesn't talk back.  So just listen to the tree with your soul.

Two Random Musings today....

Something to ponder over: A story is told about one of the Reichmann brothers, a Canadian real estate mogul who died with an estate of more than a billion dollars. He left two letters to his children, one to be opened before his funeral, the other to be opened thirty days thereafter. The first letter contained a bizarre request.
"My dear children, please bury me in a certain pair of socks that I left out on the dresser." Intent on fulfilling their father's wish, the children presented his letter to the chevrah kadishah, the burial society. But the chevrah kadishah said no. Mr. Reichmann was buried without his socks.

Thirty days later, the children opened up the second letter, which read as follows: "My dear children, by now, you have buried me without my socks. I wanted you to understand, at a deep level, that a man can have one billion dollars, but in the end, he cannot take along with him even one pair of socks."
Okay the next one is too funny if you have a dog that does this...I laughed out loud at the gym this morning when I saw this in Better Homes and Gardens...

60's-70's Earring Find

You just never know what to expect at a garage sale.  That is what makes it so exciting for me.  I found a fabulous pair of 1960's earrings in green, yellow and orange.  Totally funky!  What is fabulous is that I only paid $3.00 for them.  If they were sold in a vintage store, the price would have been $25-$35 or more.  The earrings are in perfect condition and I can't wait to wear something orange to wear them.  I had to put them on yesterday just to show you all.  Take a look! Totally groovy, love them!

I know that I go overboard with my garage sale passion but when I find something I love for next to nothing, it gives me the greatest pleasure and satisfaction.  I know that my dad would be proud how I can dress so well for just a few dollars.  Everything I wear is usually one of a kind, I haven't seen anyone else dress like me not even my identical twin sister!

Invasion of the Birds!

I was busy typing away at the computer in the early morning and I look outside, 1000's of birds have invaded my trees.  It is amazing, they are flying around from tree to tree and have filled every branch.  I step outside and the sound is incredible.  The songs of the black bird.  I think it was a black bird, hard to tell in the early morning light.  Give a listen, amazing.

Sucess at Jenna and Molly...

Since we couldn't get everything we wanted at the estate sale, we decided to visit this store in Long Branch (1 hour from Princeton), "Jenna and Molly".  They have hip teen, kids, women clothing at reasonable prices.  Bruce drove, that's always a plus, and shopping we went.  The entire store was 20% off, and there were markdown racks, so I was able to find not only stuff for Jill and Leah but me too!  Kinda funky clothes, hip, Jersey style(not TV Jersey Shore ) items.  Jill loved everything she tried on and did really well.  Leah is much more particular, but we managed to find two things.  I got three items, totally me, not something you see others wear, but I don't usually wear what everyone else is wearing, I drive my own fashion trend.  Here is Jenna and Molly's facebook page, if you are in Jersey, check them out. http://on.fb.me/vG19dU

Musings on Saturday's estate sale

So the excitement builds..an estate sale..right around the corner...I never know what to expect...will it be good and I walk out with a bag of goodies or come out empty-handed?  Well, it was definitely a goodie.  The sad part was the Mom had passed away and her children were selling off her collectibles and clothing that they did not want.  You can tell alot about a person looking through their drawers and closets.  Besides seeing what size they are (the obvious) you get to see a window into their personality.  She was a hip, colorful, person and her clothes reflected that.  I got a bunch of tops for my Mom, a dress for me, a hip fringe vest, a shawl-sweater in my favorite redhead colors and shoes!  Jill made out with four pairs of new shoes (or used shoes, but new to Jill) all short boots, two blacks, one white and one cool hiking boot.  All for $25!  What a deal.  Now the big question remains, will she wear them or will they end up in the bag for donation.  For $25, I will take the risk.  The lady of the house loved lots of interesting things, I got 2 unusual Israeli coins, one with the Shema on it, and a really neat vintage tiffany lampshade lamp.  Love it!  I will post photos later.  Gotta run, literally, time to exercise...
